Charles Watts: Arsenal could make exciting move for £36m-rated magician

Football writer Charles Watts has urged Arsenal to go out and signed talented midfielder Ruben Neves in the summer transfer market.

In the winter window, the Gunners failed to make any signings that will improve the squad in the second half of the season. With that in mind, there is likely much work to do.

One of those positions that could be improved is the centre of midfield. Indeed, while talking on his YouTube channel, Watts touted Neves for a move to the north London club, saying that the Wolves man is a player he highly rates.

While commenting on the Wolves squad ahead of the two teams’ clash on Thursday, the journalist outlined his feelings, saying: “Ruben Neves, a player I very, very much like. I’d have no objections to Arsenal signing him in the summer.

“They tried to sign him last summer, didn’t. It wouldn’t surprise me if they go back in for him. But that’s something for the summer, we’ll have to wait and see.”

TIF Thoughts on Ruben Neves and Arsenal…

Going off Watts’ quotes, it seems as though he isn’t the only one who rates the Portuguese star. Indeed, he claims that Arsenal tried to actually sign Neves, who is valued at £36m (as per Transfermarkt), this past summer.

The Gunners, of course, play Wolves in the Premier League later this week, so Mikel Arteta, Edu and the scouting team will have ample opportunity to get another close look at the player.

If he sufficiently impresses, there is every chance the club may go back in for him this summer. It certainly seems that if Watts had his way, Neves is one signing he’d try and get over the line in the near future.
