Chaotic day sums up Hull FC position but future plans can't mask desire for derby redemption

It's never dull in Hull so the famous saying goes. And that saying couldn't be more apt after a manic few hours at Hull FC on Tuesday. The Black and Whites announced three new loan signings which would have been enough for most to digest over their tea, but that was far from the end of it as the stories just kept on coming.

Another signing in Sam Halsall proved to be a false trail, but then came Josh Bowden's upcoming exit from the club, not to mention Hull's battle against one of the three suspensions handed out on Monday afternoon - an appeal against Ligi Sao's ban which they they lost. Don't forget Castleford's FC-bound Jake Trueman tearing his ACL either, before an official announcement followed from the club later to confirm what everyone already knew, the half-back is moving to Hull from next season. You'd be forgiven for missing a thing or two on the Hull FC merry-go-round, or for taking a deep breath before you jumped on.

If anything, though, this whole episode shows the desperation Super League clubs are in right now, and that Hull are no different. The pressure to meet targets is unbelievable and that's across the board with the top, middle, and bottom ends of the table heating up. Movement elsewhere in the competition is expected this week, but it's Hull, with a toppling injury list, who have acted first.
