Channel 5 update means forgotten Sky product is worth picking up with £240 off

Those looking to pick up a brand new TV package aren't short of options with EE, Sky and Virgin Media all offering a variety of worthy bundles for entertainment fans. However, a new update to the Channel 5 app might sway shoppers in the way of a 'forgotten' Sky product that's never been more worth picking up.

Channel 5 has recently issued an update to its app on the Sky Q box, which means that viewers can watch the channel directly from their box rather than tuning into the channel the traditional way. Even better, Sky Q has just seen a price reduction at the same time as the update, saving you money in the process.

Instead of the usual £41 per month, you can currently grab Sky Q for £31 per month. That's a huge £240 saving across the full 24-month contract, and you can add Sky Cinema for £12 per month instead of the usual £19 for an even bigger saving.

Users will be able to watch their favourite from Netflix and Amazon Prime and use voice control through the remote. Tech Editor at The Mirror, Dave Snelling shared the full details as he said: "Yes, Q boxes are finally getting full access to the My 5 app, which will offer homes that use this device the chance to catch up on hours of on-demand content.

"My 5 has been available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream for a while, but Q users will now have access to it as well. The latest move comes ahead of Channel 5's rebrand, giving the terrestrial service and app a more simplified '5' branding."

A downside to the offer? Well generally speaking, the Q box could be considered as slightly more clunky than it's Sky Stream colleague as it still uses traditional satellite for streaming - where as the Stream and Glass TV are all done via the internet.
