Channel 4's A Place in the Sun host shares hospital update after gory holiday injury

TV presenter Ben Hillman has shared an update from hospital after getting injured while holidaying in France.

Earlier this month, the Channel 4 A Place in the Sun host took to Instagram to share he had badly broken his thumb on the first day of his family getaway. Posting a snap with a bandaged hand and a plate of hospital food in front of him, he wrote: “Not the French cuisine I had in mind for the 1st day of our family holiday!”

Revealing what he had done, Ben continued: “Managed to acquire an open fracture/dislocation on the water slide. For those not in the know that means the bone was sticking out the skin.

He also shared a ‘re-enactment’ video of the squeamish moment it was removed which he captioned #theyrebigpliers #diysurgery. After it was done, Ben joked: “Thank you # NHS. And I didn’t even get a sticker for bravery.”

Comparing his injured thumb to the one on his other hand, he added: “It’s going to take some time to get it moving again. My thumb seems to have grown.”

When he was first injured, his A Place in the Sun’s co-stars and other famous friends were quick to wish him a speedy recovery. Jasmine Harman wrote: “Oh no!!!” followed by a sad face emoji, while Laura Hamilton commented: “Hope you are okay” with
