'Max was in the zone!' - Red Bull team boss Horner praises Verstappen's calm focus

Red Bull team chief Christian Horner hailed the calm focus of Max Verstappen on Sunday as he reeled off a fourth consecutive victory to triumph at his home Dutch Grand Prix.

In front of an ebullient 105 000 crowd packed into the Zandvoort circuit, Verstappen drove with cool precision to take advantage of his team's decision-making in an intense and chaotic race.

"Max was in the zone from the moment he arrived to the moment he saw the chequered flag," said Horner.

Verstappen now has a 109-point lead over Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull teammate Perez in the championship.

"We're in a great position and we'd have to try quite hard to lose it now. Our approach has always been one race at a time, so we don't allow ourselves to think too far ahead."

Horner added: "That was a massively tough race with the Virtual Safety Car and Safety Car and it was a matter of making the right calls at the right time. What you see here is only 10 per cent of the team. The team's operating at an incredible level and all the girls and guys in Milton Keynes make performances like this possible."

After consecutive wins in France, Hungary and Belgium, and now his home race, Verstappen could threaten the record of successive victories. Sebastian Vettel won nine straight to finish the 2013 season when he was at Red Bull.
