Champions League final moved from Russia to Paris as UEFA take firm stance over Ukraine invasion
UEFA will strip Russia of the Champions League final and moved the showpiece to Paris following an emergency meeting.
The conflict in Ukraine has escalated dramatically with Russian troops invading the bordering country.
It emerged earlier that UEFA president Aleksandr Ceferin has called an emergency meeting on Friday that will cover a number of key issues amid the Russian invasion.
The Champions League final was top of the agenda having been set to take place at Zenit St Petersburg's Gazprom Arena.
Following talks on Friday, Stade de France has been announced as the replacement venue.
It will be the first time France has hosted the final since 2006.
Reports also suggest UEFA also decided that it would relocate any games in tournaments it controls that were to be played in Russia and Ukraine, whether involving clubs or national teams.
At the moment, that affects Spartak Moscow’s Europa League campaign.
The conflict has thrown Scotland's World Cup qualifier into doubt with the news that a number of Ukraine players are preparing for war.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has stated he is "very worried" about the playoff next month at Hampden.
