Cesaro WWE departure: Drew McIntyre gives honest thoughts on former champion’s shock exit

Drew McIntyre has shared his thoughts following the WWE departure of Cesaro.

WWE and Cesaro failed to agree terms on a new contract and this past week the Swiss Superman became a free agent – without any non-compete clause. It bought the curtain down on an eleven-year stint with the company, where the 41-year-old won multiple tag team titles and reigned as both Intercontinental and United States Champion.

Several WWE stars have commented on Cesaro leaving the promotion, and now Drew McIntyre has shared his thoughts on the parting of ways.

Speaking during an appearance on the Kliq Podcast, the two-time WWE Champion believes that Cesaro will be fine after his departure thanks to his incredible talent, although he’s disappointed the pair never got to share the ring opposing each other in WWE.

“That’s a shame. So many people come and go from the company, I’m one of them, and we always see each other down the line, but it sucks more when it’s a friend and somebody that you really want to wrestle. That was my number one match, I think it was his number one match. We’ve both and wrestling for 20 years, but never had a singles match. So we’re gonna be a bit longer, it’ll happen eventually. But, you know, he’s got his family. He’s got his new kid, and he’s going to be just fine. He is far too talented not to be.”

There has been no statement from WWE about Cesaro’s departure, nor are we yet to hear from the Swiss star himself on the matter – or any next move. With many fans wondering if he’ll turn up at Sunday’s AEW Revolution show.

Drew, meanwhile, looks set for a WrestleMania date with Happy Corbin in Dallas. The pair were supposed to face each on this past week’s SmackDown, only for Madcap Moss to take Corbin’s place.
