Ceri Bowley's vital Rangers role revealed as Gio bigs up multiple squad options

Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst believes coaching recruit Ceri Bowley can turbo charge his squad's development amid their push to reach the Champions League.

The former Manchester City coach is already down to work and the Ibrox boss knows all about his new man due to their time together working under Pep Guardiola. And he is convinced his new recruit will hit the ground running in the search for success. And the Rangers boss was quick to stress everyone is pushing in the same direction in the search for glory. Speaking to Rangers TV, the 47-year-old said: "I worked with Ceri a couple of years ago and built up a good relationship with him. I’m happy that he’s joining my staff. He will help all of us to improve our players.

“The players will work closely with him to make sure their developments go faster and that we can identify all of the areas that we want to see improvement. When we joined in November, there were quite a few new members of staff. Ceri joins us in this moment, but we’re still one team.

“We’re working hard in this department to get the best results on the pitch. The key is to have good communication, work together and to reach the goal that we all have which is to bring success to the club.”

And the Rangers boss admits he's pleased with the multiple options at his disposal ahead of the visit of St Johnstone on Saturday, Rangers are aiming to make it three consecutive wins to start the Premiership season as they host Callum Davidson's men.

He added: "We have a lot of players back now. We have a big squad to choose from for the matchday. After our last training session we will see who is going to start and for the best gameplan we need for playing against St Johnstone.”
