Celtic Women set for bumper Parkhead crowd as 2 key SWPL fixtures switched to help historic title bid

Celtic Women will play two games at Parkhead as the club look to the fans to roar them on in the SWPL title race.

Elena Sadiku’s Hoops beat Rangers 2-1 at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium last week and are level on points with Glasgow City and just one point behind the Light Blues in the race for the league championship.

And now the club have announced that with so much at stake, they will take on the two Edinburgh clubs in the east end of Glasgow. Hearts are the visitors on April 21 (kick off 4.10pm) with Brendan Rodgers’ side in Scottish Cup semi final action at Hampden against Aberdeen that weekend. And then they host Hibs in what could be set up for a thrilling final day on May 19 - with the men’s team in action 24 hours earlier on the final day of the Scottish Premiership top six.

Celtic played in front of a record-breaking crowd for a women’s domestic game of almost 16,000 on the final day last season when they played Hibs but suffered heartache with Glasgow City snatching the title at the death in their game against Rangers at Ibrox.

The club said on their website: “It is all still to play for at the top of the SWPL, and Elena Sadiku's squad are aiming to create yet more history as they chase their first ever league title. With so much at stake, we are calling on all Celtic fans to back the Ghirls, as your support could be the difference in what’s set to be another thrilling end to the season. Supporters will have the opportunity to play their part once again, with Celtic FC Women making their return to Celtic Park for the following fixtures:
