Celtic transfer state of play on Beck, Carter Vickers and Kelleher as van Hooijdonk edges closer to Bologna exit

Brendan Rodgers will need to play the waiting game if he wants Liverpool duo Owen Beck and Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Irishman is keen to bolster his Parkhead ranks after securing winger Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna. A left-back looks likely to be on the agenda and Beck has been linked after starring on loan at Dundee in the first half of this term. He has been recalled by the Reds amid injury problems at Anfield but with stars like Andy Robertson returning, Rodgers could pounce on Beck being made available again.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp's side "won't make any final decision on Beck's immediate future until nearer the end of the month." And there is set to be disappointment in pursuit of Kelleher, as goalkeeper comes into the light with Joe Hart's future as Celtic number one up for debate. Kelleher has been told though, it's claimed, he won't be leaving mid-season.

That said, Rodgers "may renew" his interest in the summer. Sydney van Hooijdonk is another linked with making a move to Celtic and the son of Hoops hero Pierre is being edged closer to Bologna's exit door.

According to Tuttomercato, Santiago Castro is close to a Serie A move that would put the Dutchman behind him and Joshua Zirkzee in the pecking order. He has 'admirers' in Serie B and the Eredivisie.

One man Rodgers dare not sell is Cameron Carter-Vickers. The USA international is believed to be attracting the interest of Premier League sides including West Ham, and David Moyes has issued a Hammer transfer update amid the centre-back rumours.
