Celtic transfer shift is noticeable as new signing plan emerges but don't bet against them going big
In previous years the transfer window has been opened and there’s barely been a draft at Celtic Park.
This time there could be such a woosh of activity it could take the curtains off the walls.
The Hoops have a reputation for being ditherers when it comes to signing new players. The public perception is of humming and hawing and then waiting until the last minute.
Twelve months ago it took an age to snap up Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo – and those two had already been in the building on loan.
Then they had to wait until the final days of the window before Arne Engels, Auston Trusty and Luke McCowan pitched up at Parkhead.
It might be the way of the footballing world these days but it still drives supporters up the wall.
And it doesn’t help manage Brendan Rodgers either when it comes to getting his side ready to hit the ground running.
This summer already seems different. There’s been a flood of names emerging over the last week or so.
Some of them are more likely targets than others, but a fair few of them are close enough to nudge over the line way before the squad report back for preseason.
It’s almost unheard of in these parts.
Kieran Tierney has already done the scarf above the head routine, while Fulham youngster Callum Osman and keeper Ross Doohan should check in shortly – and attacker Benjamin Nygren is set to be an exiting arrival to get the juices flowing before the schools finish up.
Plenty of armchair experts will declare the Swede as a superstar in the making. New arrivals are always potential world beaters before they kick a ball.
But this lad does look like he fits the bill in a lot of respects. Nygren was one of the hottest prospects in Europe when he was 17-year-old and it cost Genk some serious
