Celtic tipped to wrap up £10m Parkhead deal 'as soon as possible'

Celtic should look to get a permanent deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers sorted ‘as soon as possible’ because increasing Premier League interest could turn the Parkhead favourite’s head, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Carter-Vickers joined the Bhoys on a season-long loan from Spurs on deadline day of last summer’s transfer window, but the Scottish Premiership giants are eager to see him remain in Glasgow beyond the end of the campaign.

According to American media outlet SBI Soccer, Celtic are in advanced talks over a permanent deal for Carter-Vickers.

The report suggests Premier League sides Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Watford have also expressed an interest in the eight-cap United States international, but the Bhoys remain in pole position to strike a deal worth up to £10million with add-ons.

Burnley have joined the race for Carter-Vickers’ signature as well, with the 24-year-old’s performances since heading north of the border clearly catching the eye.

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has been put in charge of negotiating the central defender’s permanent switch to Parkhead despite manager Ange Postecoglou being branded the ‘chairman of the board in terms of football recruitment’ by owner Dermot Desmond.

It is understood that those in Carter-Vickers’ camp believe remaining at Celtic is the best option as, after enjoying the finest spell of his career, he could take his game to the next level.
