Celtic react to Brendan Rodgers SFA punishment as club vow to continue VAR crusade

Celtic say they are "disappointed" with the outcome of Brendan Rodgers' disciplinary - but will accept the outcome after he was only banned for one game.

The Hoops brought out the big guns for Thursdays disciplinary as they fought against the two-game ban facing Rodgers after his scathing comments about Don Robertson and John Beaton's decision-making in their defeat to Hearts. Legal eagle Nick De Marco, labelled the 'Lionel Messi of football law' was brought in to defend him.

And while Rodgers was still hit with a ban, it was only one game - meaning he will miss this weekend's clash with Livingston before returning to the dugout against Rangers for the following game. And Celtic say they remain disappointed - but will not take it any further. A statement reads: “Clearly, we are disappointed with the outcome of today’s hearing, although we will accept the panel’s decision.

"The manager appeared at the hearing today, and his defence was presented robustly and thoroughly. Like many other clubs, we will continue to press for the highest standards in relation to the VAR process in Scottish football.”
