Celtic: Postecoglou 'will be calling' for signing of 24 G/A star at Parkhead

Ange Postecoglou will be calling on the Celtic hierarchy to get Jota signed permanently, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Portuguese winger is currently on loan with the Scottish Premiership leaders, but he is expected to sign permanently following a productive spell at Celtic Park.

According to reports, Celtic are on the verge of making the winger their first summer signing for a fee of £6.3m.

Scottish journalist Barry Anderson says that Celtic are set to activate Jota’s buyout clause, which will see him become a Hoops player on a permanent basis.

Despite scoring just three Scottish Premiership goals since the season returned following the winter break, overall, Jota has enjoyed a fine campaign in Glasgow.

The 23-year-old took just four league games to get himself off the mark, scoring a crucial winning goal against Aberdeen, and he’s pretty much kept up his form ever since.

Including his opener in the Old Firm derby last weekend, he has chipped in with an impressive 12 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

Only Kyogo Furuhashi (14) has scored more for the Hoops this season, while no other player in green and white has contributed to more goals than Jota’s 24.

Therefore, O’Rourke reckons that Postecoglou will be crossing his fingers that the Celtic hierarchy will ensure the deal goes through.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Obviously they have got that option to buy in there, so the fee is all agreed, Celtic just need to stump it up and I’m sure personal terms won’t be an issue.

“Postecoglou will be calling on the Celtic hierarchy to get this deal done so he can start preparing for next season with Jota in his plans.”
