Celtic player exit confirmed as talent admits 'I will be leaving' Parkhead permanently this summer

Brody Paterson has confirmed he will leave Celtic after his loan spell at Airdrie comes to a conclusion.

The left-back has been a regular in the Diamonds side which is contesting this year's Championship play-offs since joining in January.

His performances in April won him Player of the Month as the Hoops loanee excels at League One level.

He lifted the League Two title with Queen's Park last year and is keen to make it consecutive promotions in North Lanarkshire.

But he is playing for his own future too after admitting that his latest loan is a shop window opportunity for him with no Celtic extension forthcoming.

Fellow Parkhead teammate and former Airdrie midfielder Kerr McInroy has already confirmed he'll be on his way out of the Premiership leaders this summer.

Paterson told the Daily Record : "My contract is up with Celtic in the summer and I will be leaving.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge, one I can learn from and can give me a platform to take my career forward.

“I have high hopes and expectations of myself and I want to go to a good, ambitious club that will allow me to do well and I can also help the team progress.

“Hopefully, I can have another few games in the play-offs with Airdrie to build on what we have done as a team this season. If we could win promotion it would be the perfect way to end the season.

“I won the league with Queen’s Park last season and it would be good to get promotion two consecutive seasons on the bounce.”
