Celtic go from flat to 'electric' as Brendan Rodgers sensed special day brewing BEFORE kick-off

Brendan Rodgers hailed electric Celtic after they zapped Rangers. And the Parkhead manager believes his exciting team are just getting started after the emphatic triumph that capped two months graft on and off the park.

Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor struck to ease the champions back to the top of the table. Rodgers said: “I thought we were electric going forward. It was a fantastic performance. We’ve scored three and we look at the other chances we had, but also equally as pleasing is that we were defensively solid and strong and right to the very end. Overall, it was such a great day for us. It just continues, the quality, the speed, the intensity of which we’ve been playing.”

Asked if it felt like a statement success at this time of the term, he continued: “Not really. No, I think we’re only started. The pleasing aspect was the performance.”

It was the perfect end to an excellent few days as Rodgers added: “We were busy since the first day of pre-season. You go back to the 27th of June, all the work that the players, the staff, the club have put in, right the way through the transfer window.

“To arrive at this point, it’s really pleasing. It was a really hectic week, a busy week and, obviously, this at the end, which was what we wanted to do, was play well and win. I think it’s good when you see growth. When you’ve got a group of young players mixed with the senior players that’s here, then naturally that will come.
