Rangers fans are raging. The rest are rolling about laughing at them. And if Scotland’s co-deficient is taking a hammering, who cares, as long as your rivals are suffering?

That was the vibe on the Hotline anyway, in the wake of Rangers’ hammering at the hands of Liverpool. James Brown was feelin’ good. He emailed: “ Rangers shouldn’t feel too bad about being totally embarrassed by Liverpool’s 'B' Team in Govan. After all they were only six penalties away from getting a draw.”

Bud Hay, Dumfries, emailed: “Had to laugh at Kris Boyd when Rangers went up 1-0- you would have thought he had won the Champions League. He then said Rangers were in the game for 60 mins against the second best team in England. Dream on. This is what happens when you are in the big boys playground.” While Richard Wharton, Carlisle, said: “They said this was Rangers’ big chance. "Liverpool were short of confidence, had injury problems and would be saving the big names for Saturday. True to form, Liverpool were awful…….they let Rangers score!”

Andy Logan emailed: “I’m sure Stewart Jackson, Jake Curley and many others wish Rangers only played for 45 minutes last night. As Ibrox legend Ally McCoist said, it was the worst EVER defeat in Europe for a Scottish team. No new songs needed just ssssshhhhh!”
