Celtic face ticking Jeremie Frimpong windfall clock as expiry date on mega-money Leverkusen release 'revealed'

Celtic are set to land €6million if Jeremie Frimpong is sold by Bayer Leverkusen - but ONLY if a deal gets over the line this summer.

The Scottish Premiership leaders are entitled to 30 per cent of the profit the Bundesliga outfit could land if any top clubs activate his €40million release clause - with a host of clubs chasing the Netherlands international this summer. The likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester United have been tipped to enter the signing race at the end of the campaign - and Celtic will be hoping potential suitors make a quick move for the 22-year-old.

The Hoops signed Frimpong from Manchester City for just £350k in 2019 before selling him to the Bundesliga side for £11.5m in January 2021. It's reported in Europe that the current release clause will run out in the summer of 2024 - but could leave after an impressive campaign which has seen him chip in with 5 goals and 7 assists so far this term.

However, should Leverkusen opt to stick rather than twist Celtic will be made to wait for the bumper payday. Frimpong's value could rise with his career trajectory appearing to be on the up this term - but it may also drop leaving the Hoops with less than the €6million that looks to be on it's way to Parkhead.
