Celtic beating Motherwell was frustrating, but that's a good sign, says defender

Ricki Lamie reckons Motherwell’s frustration over Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Celtic shows they’re doing something right.

But the former Livingston defender knows the Steelmen need to get points on the board to climb up from ninth place in the Premiership, following the Celtic Park loss.

Goals from Kyogo and Reo Hatate either side of a bizarre Josip Juranovic own-goal kept all three points at Parkhead, but Lamie reckons his side asked some serious questions.

He said: “I’m pleased with the performance. I think the frustration probably highlights that, the fact that we did so well.

“It’s a good thing coming here and going away frustrated, as daft as it sounds, because I think we applied ourselves really well and we were in the game right to the end.

“The frustration comes from conceding two reasonably poor goals from our point of view, but to be in the game is a positive.

“When you come to places like this it’s about having that bravery and belief to go and ask questions of the home team and I think we did that.

“We got a wee touch of luck with the goal but it comes on the back of good play and I thought we showed that a lot, from start to finish.”

Lamie added: “They started the game well, but I thought we came into it and asked a lot of questions of them.

“We’re in a good place, we’ve been playing well and I think it sums it up that we can come here and compete. That’s what you want to do.

“You don’t want to come here and get rolled over, you want to make it a game, and I think we definitely did that.”
