Celtic and Rangers learn rearranged fixture dates as Gers face gruelling double Christmas trip

Rangers' clash with Aberdeen which was postponed following the Queen's death has been rescheduled for Tuesday December 20. Celtic 's visit of Livingston, meanwhile, has been pencilled in for Wednesday December 21.

Both games were due to be played on the weekend of September 10 but were pushed back as a mark of respect after the monarch passed away. The entire round of SPFL fixtures was called off and clubs have slowly been announcing new dates as the fixture calendar plays catch-up.

Given how packed the schedule is between now and the World Cup break, fitting rearranged games in had been a challenge and clubs have been left to their own devices to find a date that suits both teams. But there were no available slots before the November 12 shutdown for either Celtic or Rangers due to their involvement in the Champions League group stage.

Both have pencilled their rearranged games in for the midweek before Christmas, which falls in between the December 17 fixtures and Christmas Eve, which is set to host a full card of Premiership clashes. Sky Sports have picked Aberdeen vs Rangers for TV while it remains to be seen if Celtic vs Livingston will be broadcast 24 hours later.

It means Gio van Bronckhorst and his team face gruelling trips north to Aberdeen and Ross County within four days of each other.

Aberdeen vs Rangers - Tuesday December 20 - 8pm

Celtic vs Livingston - Wednesday December 21 - 7.45pm
