Celtic and Rangers in Viaplay Cup TV double header as schedulers solve Hearts and Hibs headache
Holders Celtic and last season's runners-up Rangers have been selected for live TV action after the Viaplay Cup last 16 live fixtures were revealed.
The Hoops start the defence of their trophy - the first of last season's Treble success - with a trip to Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
That match will be shown live on Sunday, August 20 with a 3pm kick off. Fierce rivals Rangers landed a home tie against Championship side Morton and that match will take place 24 hours earlier on Saturday, August 19 with a 12.30pm kick off. The SPFL also faced a headache with Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibs drawn at home, with the Jambos facing Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers heading to Easter Road.
There was the added complication of the fact both could be involved in European action on the Thursday, meaning they have to play on the Sunday. And both games will now go ahead on that date (August 20) with 2pm kick offs.
