CCTV appeal after woman sexually assaulted on train to Manchester

Police have issued CCTV pictures of a man they want to speak to after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train to Manchester Piccadilly.

The incident happened on a train from Stockport on Thursday, November 16. Between 11.40am and 12.10pm the victim was approached by a passenger who sat next to her and then sexually assaulted her.

The man then left the service at Manchester Piccadilly, British Transport Police said.

Officers now want to speak to the man captured on CCTV as they believe 'he may have information that could help their investigation’.

Anyone who recognises him is urged to contact the British Transport Police.

In a statement, a BTP spokesperson said: “British Transport Police are releasing these images after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train from Stockport to Manchester Piccadilly.

“The incident happened between 11.40am and 12.10pm on Thursday 16 November. The victim was approached by a passenger who sat next to her and then sexually assaulted her. The man left the service at Manchester Piccadilly.

“Detectives would like to speak to the man in the images as they believe he may have information that could help their investigation.

“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 131 of 17/11/2023.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
