CCTV appeal after 85-year-old has £1,000 in cash stolen from her on bus journey

Police have issued CCTV images of three women they wish to speak to after a pensioner had £1,000 in cash stolen from her. The victim was travelling on a bus in Warrington when the theft happened and police believe the suspects could have links to South Yorkshire.

The incident happened on November 16th but details were only issued today. In a statement Cheshire Constabulary said: "At 3.52pm on Thursday 16 November police were called to reports of a theft in Warrington.

"The caller reported that three women had stolen a large amount of cash from an 85-year-old woman who was travelling on the number 2 Latchford bus

"The women are believed to have distracted the victim after following her onto the bus. Officers launched an investigation and as part of this, they have now released CCTV images of three woman, who they believe hold vital information. Initial enquiries suggest the women could also have links to Sheffield."

Police believe that thieves watched the victim withdraw cash from a bank and then followed her onto the bus.

PC Graham Davies said:“As part of our ongoing investigation, we would urge anyone who recognises the women pictured to get in touch with us. We are also appealing directly to the women to make contact.
