Casemiro Man United transfer latest - Galatasaray talks, contract details, Ten Hag stance

It was at the end of last season, during a run of just two wins in 11 Premier League games, that Casemiro's Manchester United future was brought into the spotlight seriously. Jamie Redknapp described him as being like a SoccerAid footballer, and things haven't gotten much easier since.

The 32-year-old, who still has almost half of his contract at Old Trafford to run, was linked with an exit over the summer as Erik ten Hag and a new look sporting setup, including recruitment chiefs, planned for changes. Now, after a disappointing start to the 2024/25 campaign that has seen United lose two of their opening three games, Casemiro is a big talking point yet again.

He has started each of the matches but was brutally hooked by Ten Hag at half-time against Liverpool to be replaced by 20-year-old academy graduate Toby Collyer. Contrary to some online speculation, Casemiro didn't leave the stadium after being taken off, but his role in the side remained under the spotlight.

After two mistakes leading directly to goals in the opening 45 minutes, Gary Neville made his feelings perfectly clear. "Casemiro, for a player of such experience, the amount of times he gives the ball away in bad areas," he said on co-commentary. "There's no pressure around him it's a first-time ball that he tries.

"From that moment on, Liverpool have made mistakes in that area but Mohamed Salah is a different class and that cross is delicious." Neville went on to add, "Casemiro is getting on in his years; he's had a really challenging first-half in particular those two goals."
