Carrie Johnson admitted to hospital in terrifying health update
Carrie Johnson has revealed that she spent nearly a week in hospital battling flu and pneumonia.
In a post on Instagram the wife of the former Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that she was "struggling to breathe properly" and has still not recovered from the illness depite struggling with it for almost a month.
Ms Johnson, 36, added that it could be a few more weeks before "I feel like myself again." She said on the social media platform: "I didn't expect to spend the first week of 2025 in hospital.
"After having a nasty chest infection for nearly 18 days at home over Christmas, it just got out of hand and I was struggling to breathe properly."
She said that the hospital confirmed she had flu and pneumonia and that she was there nearly a week but still "not recovered." Ms Johnson added: "It could take another few weeks until I feel like myself again."
The mum-of-three is receiving treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and she praised NHS staff saying they are "the best of us" and that "NHS doctors and nurses are the best people on earth".
She said: "I say it a lot but they have looked after me and my family when we’ve needed it most and I will never not be enormously grateful.
“They are the absolute best of us. I was at the John Radcliffe and I cannot thank them enough. When I was particularly low, one nurse even serenaded me by my bed. Unbelievable kindness."
Ms Johnson then went on the plead with people who are eligible to "get the bloody flu jab" saying she wishes she had done so herself. The environmental activist married former Prime Minister Mr Johnson, 60, in 2021, The Express reports.
They have three children together: son Wilfried, daughter Romy and son Frank. They live in a £3.8
