Carlos Corberan explains changes and rotation as Huddersfield Town prepare for play-offs

Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan believes having as many players up to speed as possible can only help his side as they booked their spot in the play-offs with a 2-1 win over Coventry City.

Corberan made a host of changes to the side that beat Barnsley 2-1 last week ahead of the clash against Coventry, opting to shift to a 3-4-3 formation that fielded Jonathan Hogg at centre-back. Goals from Harry Toffolo and substitute Tino Anjorin wrapped up the three points.

Striker Danny Ward made his return to the Huddersfield line-up albeit from the bench when he replaced Jordan Rhodes while Anjorin came on for Duane Holmes to produce an impressive cameo display. And ahead of the final week of the season, which will see Huddersfield take on Bristol City at Hillsborough before they enter the play-offs, Corberan reckons it is of vital important to ensure that players have minutes in their legs to help the Terries promotion push.

"Some players for me need the minutes in the legs to show that they can help the team," explained Corberan speaking in the aftermath of Huddersfield 2-1 win over Coventry.

"For example, after the injury to Danny Ward for me, it was important to see him again because in football you never can move to give your 100% performance after you miss some weeks.

"For me Danny definitely needed those minutes because we know he is an important player for us and Andorin is still another player who still needs to give minutes too and it’s important to have players that can make an impact from the bench."
