Carlos Carvalhal drops pre Rangers bombshell as Braga boss hints he wants to leave

Carlos Carvalhal has dropped a bombshell on his club just ahead of their crunch Europa League quarter-finals clash with Rangers.

The Braga boss has revealed he's keen on returning to manage in Turkey at the end of the season when his contract with the Portuguese club expires.

Rangers travel to Portugal for the first leg in Braga on April 7, with the return at Ibrox a week later as the pair compete for a place in the semi-finals, with Atalanta or RB Leipzig the potential opponents.

Well-travelled boss Carvalhal - who took his 19th job when appointed as manager of Braga two years ago - enjoyed several years in Turkish football when he was manager of Besiktas and Basaksehir before moving to English football for spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City.

He's out of contract at the end of the season and admitted he would love to manage in Turkey again.

He said: "My contract with Braga ends at the end of the season. In two months I will be a free coach.

"I worked at Besiktas and Basaksehir. Turkey is always an option for me. I still know a few words in Turkish and I love the country.

"If there is a good project, I would like to come back.

"I've been getting some offers from European clubs, but for now I'm focusing on Braga. We'll see what happens.

"We are having a great season, just like last year. We played in two cup finals and did well in the Europa League . Then some key players left and it was necessary to build a new team.

"We did that with many youngsters, we are fourth in the League and in the Europa League, we eliminated Sheriff Tiraspol, who beat Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

"We play Rangers in the quarter-finals and of course, we dream big."
