Carl Starfelt reveals Celtic 'private life' rule as he makes social media confession amid Jacynta revelation

Carl Starfelt knows he’s under the spotlight playing for Celtic.

But the Swedish defender says social media scrutiny off the pitch is worth the hassle when you’re successful on it. Last week, his Parkhead team-mate Matt O’Riley urged outsiders to remember footballers are also human beings with their own problems and worries.

Starfelt tries to stay away offline as much as he can but says being put under the microscope comes with the territory of being at a big club like Celtic. He said: “I’m actually pretty bad with social media. I put up some football pictures now and then but I like to keep my private life private. Occasionally I will put up some family stuff but it’s mostly about football. At a club like Celtic there is always going to be pressure on you.

"You are a public figure and I don’t think it’s worth complaining too much about certain stuff because it comes with the job. It is mostly fun. But there are some parts which are not as fun and you have to be able to handle those as well. That is a part of playing for Celtic and is worth it, 100 percent. You need to be strong in yourself and able to handle a lot in your own head. If I need help, I can speak to my family and they will guide me.”
