Cardiff City v Aston Villa Live: Peter Whittingham Memorial Game kick-off time, stream details and score updates

Peter Whittingham's two former sides Cardiff City and Aston Villa tonight come together in a match to celebrate the life of a supremely gifted footballer.

Whittingham, for many, will go down as the greatest to put on a Bluebirds shirt, while Villa are supremely proud of the fact they brought through such a talented player, who gave thousands in this corner of the world a decade of joy.

The match, which will be played between Cardiff and Villa's first teams, will see proceeds donated to the Peter Whittingham Foundation, Winston's Wish and King Henry VIII school, where Whittingham attended.

For Mark Hudson, who himself has dear personal memories of playing with Whitts, it is also an opportunity for his players to dust off the cobwebs following a mid-season World Cup break, with the Championship starting back in 10 days' time.

Cardiff will be streaming the match for £7, with the money also being donated to the Foundation. More information on that here .

It's set to be an emotional night, with many of Whittingham's former Bluebirds team-mates in attendance at Cardiff City Stadium, while the match will be stopped on seven minutes for a minute's applause to honour the great man. Hopefully it is a night his wife, Amanda, and two sons will be proud of.
