Cardiff City headlines as Mark Harris now 'a man possessed' and Lee Tomlin's future takes another turn

Steve Morison says goalscorer Mark Harris has been doing his utmost to impress on the training ground recently, amid increased competition for places in his starting XI.

Harris netted a decisive second goal, his fourth of the current campaign, having come off the bench for the second time in a week.

The Wales star hasn't started a league game since the 3-2 defeat to Bristol City, and Morison has been impressed by the way in which the forward had applied himself on the training ground recently.

"It was a great finish, he's cut in and taken it so quickly," Morison said when dissecting the Welshman's goal. "Funnily enough, if you'd watched training yesterday, he did that yesterday. He was like a man possessed.

"Literally everything he touched went into the back of the net.

"He had one opportunity tonight and scored.

"It wasn't a surprise when he did it, but it's nice to see."

Harris is just one of several forwards now in the building, and says the level of competition within the squad is helping to push everyone to be better on the training ground.

“There’s a lot of competition up top for a place in the side, so you can’t take your foot off the pedal," Harris said. "You’ve got to show what you can do every day in training, then taking the opportunity when you get it with both hands.

“It’s a group of good lads that we’ve got in the squad, including those who came in last month. We’re all pushing each other on in training and on the pitch, it’s healthy for us and good for the team.
