Cardiff City 1-0 Millwall: Bluebirds finally earn first win thanks to Perry Ng's bullet header

Cardiff City claimed their first win of the season at the eighth time of asking thanks to a Perry Ng header against Millwall.

The Bluebirds remain bottom of the table, having come into this one with six defeats and a draw to their name, but just how much did they need that win?

Ng's goal came courtesy of a perfect Joe Ralls corner just before the break, sending home one of his now trademark headers with aplomb at the near post.

It wasn't pretty, but Cardiff had a number of chances to make that 1-0 scoreline even larger throughout the course of the evening. Rubin Colwill and Yakou Meite will know they had golden opportunities to make the evening more comfortable. But interim boss Omer Riza won't care. He will just hope that it finally gets City's season up and running, despite them still sitting bottom of the table.

There were enforced changes from Saturday's defeat on Humberside. Callum O'Dowda and Will Fish, who were both taken off due to injury, did not make the squad and were replaced by Ollie Tanner and Dimitrios Goutas, who was back after going home to Greece owing to a family illness, in the starting lineup.

Joel Bagan, back from a red-card suspension, replaced Jamilu Collins on the left-hand side of defence after the Nigerian's struggles against Hull. There was still no Manolis Siopis, who missed the weekend due to a knock, according to Riza.

The last things Cardiff wanted to see was the ball going in the back of their net early on, but that's exactly what happened when Duncan Watmore slotted home with less than a minute on the clock. Fortunately for City, it was ruled out for a foul in the box leading up to it - that really would have sucked all the energy out of an understandably less-than-half-full Cardiff City
