Car rams into traffic light before passengers make getaway in middle of night
A car was smashed into a traffic light in the middle of the night in Rochdale.
The incident took place on Rochdale Road East in Heywood, near to the Green Lane crossroad, at around 2.30am this morning (August 5).
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said it is believed the occupants in the car then made off, leaving the vehicle at the scene.

A road closure was set up around the incident, and remained in place until shortly after 9am. It is now cleared.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "A car hit a traffic light and the occupants made off at around 2.30am. A road closure was in place but it’s since been lifted."
Residents in the near-by area took to social media to report the incident. One said: “I drove past at 4 30 this morning and seen the damage good job nobody was crossing at the time.”
