Canada's Rachel Homan beats U.S. to win bronze in Olympic women's curling
Canada's Rachel Homan won an Olympic bronze medal after defeating Tabitha Peterson of U.S. 10-7 on Saturday at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
The teams exchanged singles through the first five ends, but Homan and her Ottawa-based rink of Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes scored three points in both the sixth and eighth ends to take an 8-5 lead into the ninth end.
Peterson responded with slash shot to score a deuce, cutting her deficit to one point heading into the 10th end. However, the American skip wrecked on a guard on her last shot in the final end to secure the Canadian victory
Sweden's Anna Hasselborg will face Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni in the gold-medal match on Sunday (5 a.m. ET, CBC Gem).
More to come.
