"Can't see him playing many games" – Journalist now drops big claim on bizarre Everton signing

Anwar El Ghazi isn’t likely to get much game-time for Everton before the season finishes, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The £9m-rated attacker joined on loan from Aston Villa in January, but Rafael Benitez was sacked just three days later, which has led to El Ghazi playing a bit-part role under the new regime.

El Ghazi was finding minutes hard to come by under Steven Gerrard, so it wasn’t a great surprise that he was loaned out in January.

But with Everton having so many wide players at their disposal, his arrival on Merseyside raised a few eyebrows.

Frank Lampard already has Anthony Gordon, Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend in his squad, which explains why El Ghazi has hardly been given a chance to prove himself.

In the seven Premier League games that he’s been available for, he’s made just two substitute appearances, totting up to a total of 11 minutes, with the winger left on the bench on five occasions.

Even when Everton were chasing a late equaliser against Wolves on Sunday, Lampard preferred to make just two substitutes in the game rather than introducing El Ghazi late on.

With El Ghazi ineligible for the FA Cup having featured earlier in the competition for Aston Villa, Brown expects the recent theme to continue for the remainder of his loan spell at Goodison Park.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I can’t see him playing many games from now to the end of the season, because he’s got so many people in front of him in the pecking order.”
