Can Sergio Reguilon play for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup vs Crystal Palace?

Manchester United defender Sergio Reguilon could be available for selection in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night vs Crystal Palace.

Reguilon joined United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer to help cover the club's issue at left-back. Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are unavailable due to injury.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined the pair last Monday leaving United with a predicament at full-back. Fortunately, Reguilon has fitted seamlessly into the Reds' defence and has been a more than suitable replacement in the back line.

One concern for United fans when it comes to loan players is whether they are available to play due to being cup-tied. Reguilon's parent club have already featured in the competition this season, losing to Fulham on penalties at Craven Cottage.

Fortunately, the Spaniard did not feature in the clash and is thus available to face Palace this week. However, whether he is chosen remains up for debate.

The 26-year-old was substituted late on against Burnley at the weekend and there were some fears he could have picked up an injury. Erik ten Hag addressed these concerns post-match and thankfully the reason for his substitution was not injury-related.

United's full-back was suffering from illness prior to the match but carried on because he was 'desperate' to play, according to Ten Hag. While this is admirable, the Dutch manager may wish to give him Tuesday night off to fully recover from his illness in preparation for the Premier League clash against Palace at the weekend.

United's Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city's iconic red rose and features a black collar.
