Campbell Hatton makes promise for Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin undercard fight

Campbell Hatton will face Louis Fielding this weekend on the same night as Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin, fighting on the main card in East London.

It was only on March 11 that Hatton, 23, fought at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, beating Italy's Michel Gonxhe in a six round contest. That was his last such fight, and his plans have accelerated as he faces an eight round bout this weekend against Fielding of Tamworth in the West Midlands.

Fielding's last fight was a loss in a British Midlands Area Lightweight title fight, the level which Hatton admitted to MEN Sport earlier this month that he was aspiring to. As a result, this fight is expected to show the son of boxing legend, Ricky, the level required to make the grade at area level before moving onto bigger goals.

At the early stages of fighters' careers it is more common to see quick turnarounds as rising stars seek to build their experience and win records ahead of bigger challenges. However, just three weeks is a particularly swift turnaround but one which Hatton explained is ideal.

Speaking at this week's press conference, he said: "It's basically an instant turnaround which is exactly what we want. I think we're showing those improvements every time, we're on the eight rounders and it is going to bring the best out of me. I think I'll be much better over long fights because all my mistakes happen when I rush things. Having the extra few rounds is just going to benefit me.

"I think we're going to see the best performance yet this weekend. The way that I was boxing early on it was clear that I was just too eager to please and I was just trying to go 100mph with everything.
