Cambuslang Rangers star's display against Celtic B shows Queen's Park what they are getting, says co-boss Campbell

Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell reckons Scott Williamson’s scoring debut for Queen’s Park will be just the start of a fruitful future in the game for the Lang academy product.

Williamson, who last month signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Spiders and was immediately loaned back to Camby, featured for his new club in a behind-closed-doors clash against Celtic B in the Glasgow Cup last Tuesday.

And he had a day to remember after scoring one and setting up the other two in a 3-3 draw.

His week only got better when he netted a double in Camby’s 5-1 win over Kello Rovers in a West of Scotland Conference B clash on Saturday, which took his goals tally to 45 in 29 games this term.

And his current gaffer is backing the Fernhill forward to make a big impact when he gets let loose on the SPFL with Queen’s Park – currently playing in League one – next season.

Campbell said: “I expect Scott to go into the SPFL and score goals, I really do, because the boy is a natural goalscorer.

“I hope he kicks on at Queen’s Park and we’ll see where it takes him.

“He scored one and assisted the other two for them last week and that’s great.

“I had a wee word with him on Saturday and I said to him boys will be wondering who is, where has he come from?

“But he’s gone in there straight away at Queen’s Park and got a goal and two assists. And I said that’s all you need to do.

“By far, the best time in your life is playing football so go and make the most of it.

“He’s a very level-headed boy, he’s quite quiet, he just likes to play football. Obviously he was nervous but he was really keen to get involved and we’re delighted for him.
