Cambuslang Rangers boss says Shotts draw 'stops the rot' after poor run

Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl says their 4-4 draw with Shotts "stops the rot” and hopes to climb the West of Scotland First Division.

McColl's side levelled just minutes from the end of the Somervell Park clash, leaving both sides with a valuable point.

McColl said: "That stops the rot, it stops the defeats. We matched Glencairn up to the last minute or two, we matched Shotts up to the last minute or two, and Johnstone Burgh.

“It’s getting better. It could be the other way about, but we know we can match these teams and we need to get a wee bit more.

“The forwards did a lot better on Saturday. Del McNab scored a couple and was excellent, and there were a lot of good performances.”

Looking ahead McColl added: “Blantyre on Saturday is another hard one. They’re going really well, so there are no easy games.

“It’s just up the road. I know the manager, John Gibson, and I’m looking forward to it.

“We’ll go there and try to get a win. We need a couple of wins, to be honest with you, draws are starting to be no use to you.

“You can see the league is very tight. If you go on a run you can get yourself up there, so we just need to hopefully get one going.”

McColl reckons the Somervell Park clash with Shotts was a good game, but was left frustrated.

He said: "It ended up not a bad game. There was a wee crowd there, a nice day. Shotts are decent, the manager John McKeown is my pal.

“We had a lot of chances, should have taken them.

“In the end it was a draw and that’s maybe a fair result, but with the chances we had, we should have won it.

“It was a bit of a game, it was end to end, and some daft goals conceded from both teams, so I think both teams were quite happy to go away with something.

“We were getting beat 4-3
