Calvin Bassey slams FIFA 'joke' as former Rangers defender lands SILVER card despite impressive Ajax start

Former Rangers defender Calvin Bassey has jokingly hit out at entertainment tycoon EA Sports after they rated him poorly on popular video game series FIFA - enough to only earn him a 'silver' FUT card ahead of its release in the coming weeks.

FIFA has been going since 1994, and over the last 15 years has become the most popular footballing video game by a mile across the world. Last year, the franchise sold over nine million copies of the game within the first three months of its release, and it has unsurprisingly gone down as the best-selling sports video game franchise in the history of the world.

With FIFA 23 set to come out later this month, EA are slowly starting to announce the ratings of the best players in the game as they drip-feed information to those who eagerly anticipate its release. And with Ajax's ratings being announced, Bassey - alongside teammates Jurrien Timber, Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey - were called into action as they underwent the big reveal. Timber was up first, but it wasn't without laughs as Bassey was soon revealed to be a silver card - much to his dismay.

"It's a good card, but the ratings again...too low," Bassey said via Ajax's YouTube of his teammate Timber, who was awarded 80/99. "FIFA is disrespecting by boy. I need more, FIFA!"

It was then the Nigeria international's turn for his FIFA rating to be revealed, with Bassey announcing that he would be annoyed if he saw a silver card. A silver card is awarded if a player is deemed below a 75 rating from a possible 99, meaning that a 74 or less would result in missing out from a gold card. "If I see silver bro..." he told teammate Bergwijn.

Yet, lo and behold, the rest of the squad couldn't stop themselves from bursting out laughing
