Callum Davidson sees home form improvement and gives Graham Carey injury update

Callum Davidson reckons St Johnstone’s home form has turned a corner.

Following the Perth side’s 0-0 stalemate with Ross County, the Perth boss highlighted the importance of picking up points at McDiarmid Park to lay the foundation for a productive campaign.

The draw with the Staggies nudged Saints’ points tally on home turf to four points from the last two games and keeps them sitting ninth in the table.

“I think home form has improved,” Davidson said.

“We have tweaked the tactics a little bit and tried to be a wee bit more attacking.

“We are playing with wingers and wing-backs and playing three up front as well.

“We are trying to be a little more attacking at home and cause more problems.

“Home form is key for us to be a success this season. There have been a lot of positives there, especially the last two home games.

“We have other fixtures coming up where we can get points. We will get everyone fit and healthy and we will have a really strong squad to pick from.”

Davidson revealed a number of his players were struggling with knocks in the lead up to the game.

He said: “Two or three boys played who hadn’t trained all week.

“Jamie Murphy was struggling with an injury. Ryan McGowan was struggling as well but managed to train on Friday.

“I got good minutes out of them and we got a good spark from the ones who came on.”

One man who didn’t feature was Graham Carey. The midfielder has a knee injury and Davidson is unsure at present how long he will be absent.

Davidson revealed: “He hurt his knee at training during the week.

“I don’t know how long he will be out for, his knee gained swelling overnight.

“It will be a matter of getting the swelling down and hopefully he will be okay.

“It was good to get Ryan McGowan in there
