Callan Elliot to leave Motherwell as Kiwi's departure causes Stuart Kettlewell a right back headache

Callan Elliot is set to return to New Zealand with Auckland FC.

The defender signed a short-term contract at Motherwell in January but the 24-year-old has struggled for game time under Stuart Kettlewell. The right-back is set to leave Fir Park when the season ends this weekend. Elliot is now expected to move back down under. New A-League side Auckland now looks to be his next destination. Auckland FC will start up a team for the new season, after Hibs investor Bill Foley set-up the club. They are part of his Black Knight Football Club.

Foley and his group have put their plans in place and are now looking to build up their team and club for the big kick-off. Elliot had previously had spells at Wellington Phoenix and Greek side Xanthi. With Scotland international Stephen O'Donnell also out of contract at Fir Park this summer, Kettlewell may need to make the position a transfer priority.
