Call of Duty: Microsoft Target Nintendo Switch Future Releases

The president of Microsoft has announced that the company intends to take the Call of Duty series to the Nintendo Switch.

Brad Smith made the announcement in light of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the developers of the infamous first-person shooter, which has yet to be completed at the time of writing.

As a result, this move will hinge solely on that one factor alone and comes after Smith’s clarification that they do not intend to remove Call of Duty from PlayStation consoles.

It seems like buying the creators of the series isn’t enough, as plans are in place to expand the player base even further than ever before.

Well, that’s the plan! As mentioned above, it will all depend on whether Microsoft gets the deal through to buy Activision.

Smith spoke to CNBC after elaborating on his plans for PlayStation releases and went on to talk about moving the franchise across to Nintendo.

He said: “We’d like to bring it to Nintendo devices. We’d like to bring the other popular titles that Activision Blizzard has, and ensure that they continue to be available on PlayStation, [and] that they become available on Nintendo.

“The first acquisition made after Satya Nadella became CEO was of Minecraft. That was back in September 2014. And what we’ve done with that acquisition, I think is a clear indicator of what we hope to do if we acquire Activision Blizzard.

“Namely, invest even more in innovation, bring it to more people, bring it to more platforms, make it even more useful and hopefully delightful for the people who use it.”

At the time of writing, it is unclear when Call of Duty titles will be heading over to the Nintendo Switch.
