CAF CC: Enyimba come back to play draw with Zamalek
Enyimba came from two goals behind to play out a draw 2-2 with Zamalek of Egypt in their CAF Confederations Cup Group D clash at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday.
Zamalek went 2-0 ahead following goals from Seifeddine Jaziri and Omar Faraj with coach Jose Gomes believing that his side has done enough to secure victory.
The People’s Elephants, however, had other ideas as they mounted a spirited comeback to show the true Nigerian spirit of never-say-die.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s reduced the deficit with a first-half goal before Chinedu Ufere netted the equaliser in 57th minute to send the home fans into ecstasy.
The draw with Zamalek has now helped Enyimba to register their first point in the competition after two matches, having earlier lost 2-0 to Al-Masry.
