Cadwell BSB: Kennedy forced to fight back - ‘nothing went to plan’

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Jack Kennedy continued his attack on the Quattro British Supersport title with his 11th win of the season at Cadwell Park on Monday.

A first at the Louth circuit for Mar-Train Racing, the victory strengthened the Dubliner’s hold on the standings to 121 points after a disappointing Sprint race mistake left him in second. A poor start from pole position in Sunday’s race had allowed Appleyard Macadam’s Harry Truelove to get the hole shot and stay out in front for the opening laps. After recovering the lead the pair began to battle but a lap ten mistake send Kennedy wide and across the grass.

Returning to the action in fourth, the frustrated Irish man eventually fought his way back to pass Bradley Perie and Jack Scott on the final lap and claim the runner-up position for a 111-point lead going into Monday’s race. Fourth again in the final acton, the reigning Supersport Champion replicated his fight through the pack to take the lead just over mid-race distance this time holding fast until the chequered flag. “Another amazing weekend on the Mar-Train Yamaha R6,” Kennedy said on Monday evening. “We had strong practice sessions and managed to qualify on pole position with the lap time that was under the lap record.

“After a very poor start, I managed to get back to the front and pass Harry Truelove. Everything was going to plan, but I made a little error - the first one I’ve made all season – and it ran me straight onto the grass. I managed to save it and come back on in fourth place, before getting the head down and bringing the Mar-Train Racing R6 home in second place. We didn’t lose too many points and I managed to put the bike on pole position for race two.
