Cadwell BSB: Kennedy bounces back for 11th BSS win of season

Jack Kennedy took another significant stride towards the 2022 British Supersport Championship title by clinching a hard fought 11th victory of the season during the Cadwell Park feature race.

On a weekend that has seen Kennedy ward off a stiff challenge from his closest rivals around the Louth venue, the Mar-Train Yamaha rider recovered from an early shuffle down the order to pick his way back to the front of the field.

Coming into the race on the back of a frustrating first race that slipped from his clutches with a mistake in the closing stages, though Kennedy was again muscled down to fourth place on lap four by an aggressive overtake from Appleyard Yamaha’s Harry Truelove, he was back in front at the midway stage.

Strengthening his status as champion-elect for a fourth British Supersport title, Kennedy’s lead out front swells to 121 points with a maximum of 200 remaining from the final four events.

Perie came home a lucky second, the Appleyard Macadam Yamaha impressing early on to lead for several laps before being overhauled by the charging Kennedy.

Coming under pressure from Truelove in the closing stages, Perie nonetheless repelled his advancing teammate as they entered into the twisty final section. However, with Truelove running wide onto the exit kerb at the Hairpin as a result, it opened the door for British GP2 front runner Jack Scott on the run to Barn for the final time.

However, with Truelove closing the door and Scott left with nowhere to go, the pair would collide and be sent spiralling into the barriers and out of the race.

Their late exits promoted a surprised Jamie van Sikkelerus up into third on the MPM Yamaha, while Ashcourt Yamaha’s Damon Rees and Jamie Perrin completed the top five. Astro JJR’s
