Cabin bag warning to Jet2 and easyJet passengers with wheeled suitcases

Holidaymakers have been warned to double check their wheeled suitcases before travelling. When it comes to carry-on luggage, each airline has different rules so it’s important that passengers check the limits before selecting their bag.

Jet2 and easyJet passengers are being urged to make sure their bags comply. Breaking these rules could lead to an unexpected charge at the airport of up to £48, depending on the airline.

The hand luggage policies for both airlines specifically mention suitcases with wheels, the Mirror reports. Bags that don't meet the requirements will need to be checked into the hold for an extra fee.

Although you may think you can risk getting away with a bag that’s slightly too big, some airlines have a reputation of strictly enforcing the rules. Last year a passenger was spotted furiously smashing up his suitcase at Edinburgh Airport in a bid to fit it into the measuring rack.

The guidelines for Jet2 and easyJet both say that measurements must include any wheels and handles. So, passengers using wheeled cases will have less packing room and should make sure their bags are the right size, reports Birmingham Live.

EasyJet allows all travellers to bring a small cabin bag of up to 45 x 36 x 20cm on board as standard. Jet2's limit is slightly larger at 56 x 45 x 25cm. Jet2's rules state: "You may carry on board one piece of hand luggage free of charge, as long as it weighs no more than 10kg and is no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles.
