Bus window smashed with a brick while passengers inside

A commuter said they were left covered in glass after a brick was thrown at a bus travelling through Droylsden. The 216 service from Manchester Piccadilly had to stop after a window was smashed by the projectile on Thursday evening (October 24).

According to a passenger, nobody was hurt, and that the incident occurred in the same area where a woman was left needing surgery after a brick struck her face.

The object was launched at a bus while it was on the move along Ashton Road, near to St Mary's Church, in Droylsden.

"We were just driving through Droylsden and I was sitting on my phone as usual." Said the passenger who preferred to remain anonymous.

"There was an almighty bang and the next thing I know, I was covered in glass. Everybody on the bus was a bit shaken.

"I was sat by the window that was caved in. I was shaken up too.

"I take this route three times a week to go to work. It seems to be an ongoing thing.

"I'm pretty resilient about these sorts of things but it hasn't bothered me all too much. I just won't sit in that seat again."

A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: "We can confirm that one of the windows on our 216 service was smashed by a projectile thrown at the bus on Thursday 24 October in Droylsden.

"The safety and wellbeing of our customers and drivers is our number one priority, we are working closely with Greater Manchester Police and the TravelSafe partnership to find the perpetrator."
