Burnley 0-4 Chelsea: Reece James inspires big win as Kai Havertz bags brace
Reece James inspired Chelsea to a big win away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Making his first Premier League start of the calendar year, the England international opened the scoring with a fine finish inside the box after leaving Burnley’s defence in his wake.
Kai Havertz, in the kind of form that makes the idea of a recall for Romelu Lukaku seem ridiculous, headed in a quick-fire second only moments before grabbing a brace when James’ cross offered him a glorious chance from close range.
What was most impressive about Chelsea’s second-half blitz was just how unlikely it seemed at the break. Burnley shaded the better of the chances in the opening forty-five minutes with both Wout Weghorst and Dwight McNeil going close.
Still, when Christian Pulisic pounced on a James Tarkowski mistake to add a fourth with around twenty minutes to go, Burnley look shattered.
From there, it was never a contest, increasing Sean Dyche’s relegation worries.
With James back in the team, Thomas Tuchel’s side could yet add more honours to their list.
