Bulls mentor bemused by Hacjivah Dayimani ref call, but accepts Stormers were better

Bulls director of rugby Jake White may have accepted the 19-17 loss against the Stormers in their United Rugby Championship clash at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, but questioned how Hacjivah Dayimani's high tackle on Kurt-Lee Arendse was handled.

Dayimani, who scored the Stormers' only try on the stroke of half-time, made a desperate high tackle on the Bulls fullback in the 73rd-minute with the Stormers leading 19-10.

The Bulls ended up scoring through lock Ruan Nortje later on in the movement, but referee Frank Murphy, through a thorough consultation with the television match official, had Nortje's try overturned because of Arendse knocking the ball on in the tackle.

Dayimani was subsequently yellow-carded and from the resultant penalty, the Bulls scored through loose-forward Elrigh Louw.

White was bemused by Murphy's course of action, but accepted it for what it was.

"How do you get a yellow card for a head-high tackle with an open try line?" asked White.

"From there, you worry about the knock-on. Of course, he knocked it on. When you whack a guy around the neck, of course, he'll knock it on.

"We scored anyway and he got a yellow card. When you rewind the game, you'd pick up certain things and hope that a red card was given.

"I've gotten older and wiser the more I've coached, so I won't be throwing my toys. We're still in the tournament, which is alive and kicking.

"There's a lot of rugby to be played."
