Bulls ALM defence a concern for Milicic

Five games without a win and conceding far too many goals, Macarthur FC are a long way from the team which was top of the A-League Men's ladder at Christmas.

The Bulls slumped to a 3-1 loss against Brisbane on Sunday, putting together what coach Ante Milicic described as the "worst 45 minutes" in the club's short history in the first half at Moreton Daily Stadium.

It means having been undefeated in their first five matches, Macarthur have now drawn two and lost three in a season also disrupted by a long break due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

More worrying for Milicic is a leaky defence which has shipped 11 goals in four matches since returning from their COVID-19 break.

"Of course it's a worry but moreso the type of goals that we've conceded the last couple of weeks," Milicic said.

"If you look at the ones that we've conceded they're very difficult to take and to understand but we haven't had any time on the training field in the last week.

"We need to get better.

"We've changed personnel, changed the formation a bit but in the end we're making mistakes and getting punished for them. We need to really regroup and then start again."

The Bulls have a week to recover before they host Adelaide at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday, and it's time Milicic knows the Bulls cannot waste.

"We have to recover first and foremost and see how the boys pulled up," he said.

"We've got to review this week. We can't now just put it away. We've got to, I keep saying it in the last few weeks, we've got to learn from it. We've got to get better.

"But it will give us a couple of days on the pitch and hopefully some fresh bodies and work on a few things.

"We just need a better performance at home against Adelaide."
